Café Hjemom

From November 2026, Kafe Hjemom will have a new operator. The Norwegian Fisheries Museum has partnered with ALF (ArbeidsLivsForberedelse) to establish and run the café.

ALF is owned by the City of Bergen and works to promote inclusion and help people who are outside the workforce gain work experience. ALF also runs Klosterhagen Hotel at Nordnes.

A place to belong

For the museum and ALF, the goal is simple: to make everyday life a little better for more people.

Whether you stop by for a coffee, take part in activities in Hjemom’s community space, visit the museum, or work or volunteer at the café or museum, Kafe Hjemom should be a place where everyone feels welcome.

Part of HJEMOM

Kafe Hjemom is part of a larger initiative at the Norwegian Fisheries Museum. HJEMOM creates opportunities for people to meet across generations and cultures, through activities and welcoming meeting places.

After several seasons of testing and developing the concept, the museum is delighted to have found a partner who shares its ambitions for HJEMOM.

Together with ALF, we look forward to developing Kafe Hjemom into a warm and inclusive meeting place — for the neighbourhood, museum visitors and everyone who wants to drop by.
